Havurah Staff Development Program 2010

 

Learn, Travel and Work With Leading Jewish Organizations:

If you are a college student or a recent graduate looking for a meaningful and enriching experience that will propel your personal and professional growth, become a part of the Havurah Staff Training Development Program.  By the end of the program will:

 

  • Travel to Israel for a 10 day educational seminar
  • Improve your resume with work experience in a leading Jewish non-profit organization
  • Expand your knowledge of Jewish history and culture
  • Gain tools in informal Jewish education, learning from leading experts in the field
  • Develop group facilitation and presentation skills  
  • Get a fulfilling experience working as a counselor in a Jewish teen summer camp
  • Spend time in the summer with Israeli peers and your new best friends from the program

 

About the program:

This dynamic training program is led by experts in the field of informal Jewish education.  It will cover topics ranging from group facilitation to Jewish history and provide tools for successful program-building and execution, and that you’ll also find useful in your professional and personal life.  The program will commence in March, 2010 and will include:

  • 6 evening or weekend training sessions in New York City (March-May)
  • 1 weekend seminar in Upstate New York (April)
  • 10 day educational seminar in Israel (June)
  • Camp leadership experience (July 20 – August 20)

 

Participation Requirements:

You qualify for the program if you are a:

  • Jewish young adult from a Russian-speaking family
  • College student or a recent graduate

 

Preferences will be given to those candidates, who:

  • have previous group facilitation experience
  • exhibit strong motivation to explore the themes of their own identity and relationship with Israel
  • have experience working with children or teens
  • display a heightened sense of responsibility and cultural sensitivity

 

Fees and compensation:

Program participation fee: $350 refundable deposit (to be returned upon successful completion of the program)

Compensation for the camp counselor position: based on experience
